Planned Date Night With Wonder Women…
Quick questions: Is adulthood stressing you out? Do you struggle with balancing your work life with your play life? Do you work work work have no play to unwind? Yes? Hello, I am Oreoluwa, and it is so nice to know that we plenty struggling with these struggles.
I have to start by saying that I am officially done making excuses for not having the type of fun I truly deserve or exploring the beautiful country I am currently in. I mean this for real! Lmao.
“Balance is not something you find, it’s something you create”
About a week ago, a friend of mine called to plan a date night with our friends, and I was delighted! Delighted because I finally had a reason to dress up, and I had enough time to plan the date. Side note: I am the type of lady that hates impromptu hangouts because I always struggle with what to wear.
Don’t get me wrong, I am very still spontaneous. *side eye*
“To like many people spontaneously and without effort is perhaps the greatest of all sources of personal happiness.”
It was indeed a nice time with my friends. We talked about how life is treating us; basically spent the night laughing and talking and laughing! It was good vibes all through, and I am grateful for them. No matter how you want to wing it, you need people to motivate and encourage you.
Never forget that you are not a lone Island.
“The solution to alone-ness is not more solitude, but companionship and community.”
In addition to this, I was reminded of some basic things about life this night. Even though I didn’t have my everyday journal with me, I was able to make mental notes. They are:
1| Being a gentleman is never old school.
2| It is ONLY God that won’t fail you.
3| A timeout from the hustle and bustle won’t kill you.
4| Not everyone has the moral standards that you have.
5| Reach out to family and friends whenever you can.
“For me, I am driven by two main philosophies: know more today about the world than I knew yesterday and lessen the suffering of others. You’d be surprised how far that gets you.”
Neil deGrasse Tyson
