“Advice to Young Journal Keepers. Be lenient with yourself. Conceal your worst faults, leave out your most shameful thoughts, actions, and temptations. Give yourself all the good and interesting qualities you want and haven’t got. If you should die young, what comfort would it be to your relatives to read the truth and have to say: It is not a pearl we have lost, but a swine?” – Rosamond Lehmann, Invitation to the Waltz.
Readers of this blog can, probably, tell by now that I am pro-journalling. I am also obsessed with buying print journals. In fact, whenever I get a new journal I never hesitate to share it on my Twitter page – vain much?
After my post on the beauty of journaling, Ess has written a post on the love of journaling and Itunu has written a post on the reasons why you should keep a journal. Both posts are beautifully written, and it will be a sin if I don’t share it with you guys before jumping into my post; please read them whenever you can.
Here are my five favourite journals, why I bought them and what they contain.
I got this journal myself. As a young writer, and someone who daydream a lot, this journal helps me to write down whatever that comes to my mind on a daily basis. Basically, it is a rant journal and like Diet Eman wrote: ”This pouring thoughts out on paper has relieved me. I feel better and full of confidence and resolution”.
*Natural hair journey journal
This journal was given to me as a gift in 2015. In this journal, I write out all the things that concern my hair – length checks, how I pre-poo, how I wash my wash, how I trim it, and all that juicy hair information.
*Blog spot ideas journal
I got this journal myself because I am currently far away to get Cassie’s blog planner, however, the love of life promises to send the planner to me, but in the main time, this journal is a substitute. To be honest, I don’t exactly like the journal because of it’s size, but I am able to carry it around and write down blog ideas that I think of randomly.
I got this journal myself because it is pretty! It was after I got it that I decided to make it my ‘web series ideas journal’. Remember that I mentioned in this blog post that I will love to produce a web series with a team? Please, contact me if you know anyone that is looking for writers for a web series.
*Career goals journal
I got this journal myself, and it contains my short and long term goals, strengths and weakness, and basic stuff on how to improve myself. Ugh! I am such a planner, and I can’t deny it. After watching a career talk video by Abisola Longe, I bought the journal, and it has been my number one journal because so much has been written in it, and I am taking conscious steps to grow.
Thank you for reading, guys!
How many journals do you have and what do they contain?
PS: It is going to be a headwrap week for me because I just can’t deal with my hair right now.
See you soon,
